Columbia Gas of Ohio is moving forward with its automated meter reading (AMR) system installation program, which includes some work in the Hinckley area.  Work in Hinckley will begin in mid-October.  It is expected to be completed by mid-November 2010.  For more information click on the pdf attachment provided.

To learn more about recent Youth Service Projects at the River Woods Nature Preserve, click on "title" and refer to attachment.  Service projects include:  1) The 100th Anniversary of Scouting - Tree Planting; 2) Hinckley Township Eagle Scouts Project; and 3) Hinckley 4-H Groups Develop Township Gardens.

Cub Scout Pack 3520 Annual Hinckley Community Garage Sale and Flea Market is set for Saturday, September 11, 2010.  Maps, Concession & Flea Market located at 1586 Center Road (Hinckley Elementary School).  Maps sold for $1.00 - Day of Sale ONLY from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Over 120 homes will have sales.

Construction will begin on Monday, August 16th.  The approximate schedule is as follows:

Mobilization:  8/16

Excavation and Pavement Removal:   8/17 - 8/25

Stabilization:  8/24 - 8/26

Underdrains:  8/30 - 8/31

Subase and Set-up:  9/1 - 9/3

Pave Concrete Roadway:  9/7 - 9/8

Handwork, Aprons and Catch Basins:  9/9 - 9/14

Embankment, Topsoil and Seed:  9/15 - 9/21

Prior to construction, those residents within the project area will have their mailboxes removed.  Two temporary stations will be installed.  When construction is completed, standard mailboxes will be re-installed by the service department.

Hinckley Chamber of Commerce Presents:

Hot Buzzard Night & Classic Car Cruise-In on Saturday, August 14th from 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm at Bronger's Park.  There will be a 50/50 Raffle, LIVE Music, Vendors, Games, and Face Painting.  Food will be available provided by the Hinckley Fire Department.  This is a Free Community Event!

Al Deka was born August 17th, 1929 in Cold Brook Twp in Ashtabula County.  He was the third youngest of seven boys and two girls.  Raised on a dairy farm during the Great Depression, attending a very modest one room school for the first two years.  Al’s father and some of the brothers left to earn money for the family in Cleveland.  Al’s mother stayed in Cold Brook to continue to tend to the farm and raise the rest of the family.  In 1939, Al’s mom decided the farm was too much to handle and moved to Cleveland - joining the rest of the family in a Slavic village...
