The Hinckley Citizen of the Year Committee is accepting nominations for the 2012 Citizen of the Year Award.  Nominees must be Hinckley residents who have demonstrated unselfish commitment in helping and providing support to the many needs of the community.

The winner will be honored with a presentation at the May 21st Trustee Meeting along with a starring role in the Memorial Day Parade.  He/She will receive name recognition on a plaque along with his/her picture, which will be displayed at the town hall.  The winner will also have name recognition on the Hinckley Web page.

Ohio Township Day

Wednesday, February 1st

Please join us in celebrating Ohio Township Day on Wednesday, February 1st at the Hinckley Township Administration Building located at 1410 Ridge Road.  The building will be open from 9:am to 2:p.m.  Check out informational and educational displays provided by the township service department as well as the sexton and the safety forces.  County and local organizations will also have displays.  Township employees will be on hand to answer questions and receive comment.  Enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut, too.  For more information contact the township office at 330.278.4181.

Shale Gas and Hydraulic Fracturing

In response to numerous questions from residents concerning deep-well hydraulic fracking we would like to share a powerpoint recently presented to the Hinckley Seniors Organization by the Township.  This presentation offers a general introduction to the process as well as leasing and water well testing information.  For more detailed information log onto the State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources website.

The Cleveland Metroparks will be continuing their deer management program this winter.  The Hinckley Reservation is included within the area targeted for deer herd reduction.  From 12:00 noon to as late as midnight, on several days during the period of January 10 through March 10, 2012 the main body of Hinckley Reservation will be closed to the public.

The mailboxes along our roadways have to be resilient and even more so when their resiliency is tested by impact of snow and ice as it is thrown from a snowplow.  While it may appear that most damage is done by the plow hitting the mailbox, in actuality it is the force of the ice and snow coming off the road that leads to the destruction of the majority of mailboxes within the township.  This article provides some suggestions for maintaining the integrity of your mailbox and what to do if despite best efforts, your mailbox is damaged by the effects of snowplowing.

Hinckley Townsihp Trustees Welcome the Safe Prescription Drug Disposal Program.

The installation of a drug disposal box allows our community to safely dispose of expired or unwanted prescription medications in a publically and environmentally safe method.  Residents can take these items to the Hinckley Police Department located at 1410 Ridge Road amd deposit them in the white drop off box (similar to a mailbox) located outside the main entrance doors of the Police Department.
